ABOUT
Wendy Bulthuis
*Please note that I am not able to accept referrals for new or returning clients at this time.
I work with individuals and couples, as well as children, adolescents and their families and draw from different approaches including: solution-focused, cognitive behavioural therapy, play therapy techniques and emotionally-focused therapy. I believe that people, whether young, or older, are the experts on their own lives. The tools that I have are used in a collaborative way with clients so that we determine together what fits the best.
With more than twenty years of experience as a social worker and therapist, I have worked in a variety of different settings. My background includes children’s mental health agencies, a family counselling centre, a pediatric hospital and a university counselling centre. This range of experience allowed me to develop understanding and skill to work with adults, children and young people from diverse backgrounds in a variety of situations.
I continue to enhance my clinical skills by taking relevant professional training courses, and more information about special training can be found under Qualifications.
I am challenged by this work and I enjoy it very much. It gives me the privilege of meeting with people at significant times in their lives. Together we may find ways to see problems differently and to rediscover, or discover for the first time, abilities, strengths, hope and connection.
