Children and young people need the opportunity to meet with a counselor who will speak in plain language about what is important to them. I work with children and youth to understand the way that they see a problem and then to build on strengths together. When young people experience hope and regain courage they are able to act in different ways.
Some of the issues that I have addressed with children and youth are:
- Anxiety and worries
- Sadness and loneliness
- Risky or harmful behaviour
- Abuse and trauma
- School-related problems
- Coping with learning problems
- Living with a mental health diagnosis such as; Attention Deficit Disorder, Aspergers, Bi-Polar Disorder, Depression or Anxiety
- Addictive behaviour
- Social problems
- Family relationship problems
- Separation and divorce
- Grief and loss
